Rant: Bad Usability on Hotel Location Page

Here’s an example of information not being usable. I was looking up information on a hotel, and I clicked on the “location” link on their site. Guess what? The address of the hotel is nowhere to be found. That’s the one thing that I was looking for.

Instead, the page had written out directions accompanied by a badly drawn map and distances to area attractions. That may have been somewhat helpful 15 years ago, but these days, everyone uses their phone or GPS devices to navigate to a location, and the main thing you need is the address to do that.

To be fair… I see now that the hotel does have their address on the main page. But I think the address should be front & center of the “Location” page. Also, it’s not too hard to insert a Google Map on a web page – that would be better than re-creating a map. (Also, I’m not linking directly to the site because I don’t want to shame this particular place… lots of sites are guilty of this kind of thing… but a few clever Google searches should enable you to see it if you really want.)
